AGC of South Dakota Young Constructors – Rapid City Chapter Up and Running!
AGC Members - $100 | Non-AGC Members $135
One of AGC of South Dakota’s strategic goals for 2019 was to revive our Young Constructors (YC) group. AGC of SD’s Highway-Heavy-Utility and Building Chapters decided to team up and formally create the YC - Rapid City Chapter. This group met in late spring to develop the strategies & structure of how the group will run. During this initial meeting, the Board of Directors was established and includes; President, Evan Walterman, Project Manager at RCS Construction, Vice-President Kasey Kurtz Co-President of Dean Kurtz Construction, Treasurer Chris Romanjenko, Project Engineer at Simon, and Secretary, Jake Rieffenberger, Pre-Construction Manager, at Scull Construction. This leadership group began forming an official structure to help pave the way for the organization.
The board has since drafted and installed a set of Bylaws and held their first-ever monthly meeting in June for current & non-AGC members. The first meeting's intent was to welcome and invite area leaders to be a part of the group and to formally vote on the AGC YC group bylaws. Over 30 young men and women attended the initial meeting. A second meeting & event was held in July and was also well attended.
The purpose of the AGC Young Constructors – Rapid City Chapter is to serve as a gate-way into AGC, promote new member involvement, create a strong network among peers, promote industry innovation, and provide feedback on important issues to AGC leaders. One of our 2019 goals is to develop a tight-knit community amongst 21-39 year old future leaders in the construction industry and get involved in community projects. Our Rapid City Chapter will serve as the model group to later develop a second chapter on the other side of the state. There will be two AGC YC Chapters in South Dakota hopefully by the end of 2019. AGC of SD is proud of the men and women who have stepped up to spearhead this ambitious group of future leaders!
