Build South Dakota Award  (VERTICAL Projects) - 

The Build South Dakota Award recognizes particular South Dakota Building Projects completed in the past year.  The goal of the Build South Dakota Award is to honor a deserving member for their public relations efforts, to encourage other organizations to engage in positive public relations, to foster the image of the construction industry and to award in project excellence. The 2024 winners are (2):
Building Project (less than $20 Million) Mills Construction, Inc. Brookings, SD - For Outstanding Building Construction Performed on the Hamlin School CTE Addition in Hayti, South Dakota.
  • As an award winner, this company has chosen Teen Challenge of the Dakotas as their charity of choice to receive a $500 donation on behalf of Mills Construction, Inc. and paid for by the AGC of South Dakota. (photo below)

Building Project (greater than $20 Million) Scull Construction, Inc. Rapid City, SD - For Outstanding Building Construction Performed on the Oyate Health Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
  • As an award winner, this company has chosen Sturgis/Meade County Animal Shelter as their charity of choice to receive a $500 donation on behalf of Scull Construction, Inc. and paid for by the AGC of South Dakota. (photo below)


Build South Dakota Award  (HORIZONTAL Projects) - 

The Build South Dakota Award recognizes particular South Dakota Highway Division Construction Projects completed in the past year. Projects demonstrate excellent management and client service, innovation in construction techniques or materials, community relations and/or sensitivity to the environment. The 2024 winners are (3):


Category II - (Projects between $2.5 and $10 million) R.C.S. Construction, Inc. Rapid City, SD - For Outstanding Highway Division Construction Performed on the Whitewood Creek Restoration in Deadwood, South Dakota.

  • As an award winner, this company has chosen Deadwood History Inc. as their charity of choice to receive a $500 donation on behalf of R.C.S. Construction, Inc. and paid for by the AGC of South Dakota. (photo below)

Category III - (Projects between $10 and $25 million) SFC Civil Constructors – Sioux Falls, SD - For Outstanding Highway Division Construction Performed on the 6th Street Bridge, Greenway and Trail Improvements in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

  • As an award winner, this company has chosen the Make-A-Wish of South Dakota as their charity of choice to receive a $500 donation on behalf of SFC Civil Constructors and paid for by the AGC of South Dakota. (photo below)


Category IV - (Projects greater than $20 million) D&G Concrete Construction, Inc. – Sioux Falls, SD - For Outstanding Highway Division Construction Performed on the 41st Street and I-29 – Diverging Diamond Interchange in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

  • As an award winner, this company has chosen the Bread Break – Sioux Falls as their charity of choice to receive a $500 donation on behalf of SFC Civil Constructors and paid for by the AGC of South Dakota. (photo below)



Mark Knight Leadership Award - 

This award recognizes a young leader (under the age of 40) who is active in the AGC, possess extensive field experience & professionalism in their type of work, demonstrates excellent leadership qualities, and is an active participant in their Community. This award is named for South Dakota’s first-ever and only person to serve as AGC of America National President (2016) Mark Knight of Aberdeen, SD.


AGC Good Citizen Award -  

This award recognizes individuals or companies that have demonstrated outstanding skill, responsibility and integrity within the construction industry. The 2024 winner is:

Industry Collaboration & Leadership Award - 

The Industry Collaboration & Leadership Award is awarded in recognition of an individual(s) who works directly or indirectly (i.e., consultant) for a public agency administering construction inspection services. This individual(s) is nominated by an AGC contractor and has demonstrated excellent collaboration and leadership skills by bringing together industry and contractors for the betterment of a specific project or the industry as a whole. 


Golden Hard Hat Award - 

The Golden Hard Hat Award may be awarded to either a person or a company. It will be awarded to a contractor or associate member who has demonstrated outstanding skill, responsibility and integrity. Criteria include long-term performance, image, community involvement, and promotion of the AGC. The 2024 winners are:

Greg Branaugh of D&G Concrete Construction, Sioux Falls and James Scull, JR. of Scull Construction, Rapid City, SD


AGC Safety Award for "Company Growth in Safety" - 

This Company's Growth in Safety award was established to recognize companies that exhibit Pro-Active and continued safety growth.

Safety Excellence Award For Driver Safety 

The Safety Excellence Award was established to recognize individuals that exhibit Pro-Active and continued safety growth within our membership.  This award is designed for all our members’ not just general contractors.

Paul Lepthien Safety Award -

Paul Lepthien was a leader in the field of construction safety in the state of South Dakota. Through knowledge, experience and action Paul set a new course for construction safety in a way that inspired those around him. More than a knowledgeable consultant, Paul was a team-player and positive voice for safety.  For these reasons and more, he is honored annually in the giving of the Paul Lepthien Safety Award. The 2025 winner is:
