Yearly Awards


The Build South Dakota Award -  APPLICATION

The Build South Dakota Award recognizes particular South Dakota highway-heavy-utilities construction projects completed in the past year. Projects demonstrate excellent management and client service, innovation in construction techniques or materials, community relations and/or sensitivity to the environment. The 2019 winners are:

Category II - (Projects Under $1 million) : SFC Civil Constructors – Sioux Falls, SD - for Outstanding Highway-Heavy-Utility Construction performed on the Turner County Structure & Approach Grading Project near Chancellor, SD. 
Charity $500: Children's Miracle Network of South Dakota

Category II - (Medium Projects): Prairie States Trucking – Sioux Falls, SD - for Outstanding Highway-Heavy-Utility Construction performed on the Highway 81 Grade Raise Project south of Arlington, SD. 
Charity $500: Feeding South Dakota

Category III - (Largest Projects): SFC Civil Constructors – Sioux Falls, SD - for Outstanding Highway-Heavy-Utility Construction performed on the Army Corps of Engineers & Fort Randall Dam Expansion Joint Repair project near Pickstown, SD. 
Charity $500: Make a Wish of South Dakota

AGC Good Citizen Award -  APPLICATION

This award recognizes individuals or companies that have demonstrated outstanding skill, responsibility and integrity within the construction industry. The 2019 winner was involved in saving the life of four young men who were involved in a vehicle crash on I-90 near Black Hawk, SD. The 2019 winners is: Ronald Puckett, Simon, Rapid City, SD​ (no photo available)

Mark Knight Leadership AwardAPPLICATION

This award recognizes a young leader (under the age of 40) who is active in the AGC, possess extensive field experience & professionalism in their type of work, demonstrates excellent leadership qualities, and is an active participant in their Community. This award is named for South Dakota’s first-ever and only person to serve as AGC of America National President (2016) Mark Knight of Aberdeen, SD. The 2019, AGC HHU Chapter “Mark Knight Leadership Award” winner is: John Morris, Morris Inc., Pierre, SD

Golden Hard Hat Award - APPLICATION

The Golden Hard Hat Award may be awarded to either a person or a company. It will be awarded to a contractor or associate member who has demonstrated outstanding skill, responsibility and integrity. Criteria include long-term performance, image, community involvement, and promotion of the AGC. The 2019, AGC HHU Chapter Golden Hard Hat winner is: Floyd Schafer, Rapid City, SD

NEW Award in 2020!! Industry Collaboration & Leadership AwardAPPLICATION

The Industry Collaboration & Leadership Award is awarded in recognition of an individual(s) who works directly or indirectly (i.e., consultant) for a public agency administering construction inspection services. This individual(s) is nominated by an AGC contractor and has demonstrated excellent collaboration and leadership skills by bringing together industry and contractors for the betterment of a specific project or the industry as a whole.
