The Build South Dakota Award:
The Build South Dakota Award recognizes particular South Dakota highway-heavy-utilities construction projects completed in the past year. Projects demonstrate excellent management and client service, innovation in construction techniques or materials, community relations and/or sensitivity to the environment. The 2018 winners are:
Category I - (Projects Under $1 million) : R.C.S Construction – Rapid City, SD - for Outstanding Highway-Heavy-Utility Construction performed on the Meadowbrook Elementary School Phase 1A Draining Improvement Project in Rapid City.
Charity $500: The Boys Club in Rapid City
Category II - (Medium Projects): BX Civil & Construction, Dell Rapids, SD - for Outstanding Highway-Heavy-Utility Construction performed by constructing the Codington County Roundabout in Watertown, SD.
Charity $500: Lake Area Technical Institute Foundation
Category II - (Largest Projects): R.C.S Construction – Rapid City, SD - for Outstanding Highway-Heavy-Utility Construction performed for the E. Idaho, E. Nevada, Ivy Streets, and Robbinsdale Park Project in Rapid City.
Charity $500: WAVI (Working Against Violence, Inc.)
AGC Good Citizen Award:
This award recognizes individuals or companies that have demonstrated outstanding skill, responsibility and integrity within the construction industry. The 2018 winners were involved in saving the life of a young man trying to jump from a bridge on I-229 in Sioux Falls, SD. The winners are: Curt Theisen, Gary Steinhoff, Adam Feistner, Chris Peters and Jordan Doane from the South Dakota Department of Transportation, Sioux Falls, SD.
Mark Knight Leadership Award:
This award recognized a construction leader under the age of 39 who demonstrates great leadership, experience & professionalism in their field of work. The Individual is involved in their community and/or giving back and active in AGC.
AGC Safety Excellence Award for Driver Safety:
The Safety Excellence Award for Driver Safety recognizes a driver that has over 25 years of experience, driven over 250,000 miles totaling over 17,250 hours without a violation or accident. The 2018 winner is: Wayne Theitje from Myrl & Roy’s Paving, Sioux Falls, SD
Paul Lepthien Safety Award:
The Paul Lepthien Safety Award is given to an outstanding leader in the construction field. Paul Lepthien demonstrated his passion for safety throughout his career by teaching, inspiring, and being proactive in all aspects of safety. The 2018 winner is: Gerald Neis of Scull Construction, Rapid City, SD
