Committees



Public Relations Committee

This committee meets to develop actions to improve public relations & marketing of the AGC along with the annual Golden Hard Hat, Good Citizen and Build South Dakota Awards. This committee is responsible for all communications and the development and production of all AGC materials. They also assist in the development of concepts, plans, strategies, programs, and activities that support, facilitate, and otherwise guide the marketing and public relations efforts for the AGC.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee guides the member retention and recruitment strategies of the association. Recognizing that a strong and active membership base is best achieved by providing services responsive to the needs of our members, it is also the task of this committee to provide guidance and policy direction to assure that chapter initiatives, products, and services support the business success of our members.

Government Affairs Committee

AGC’s Government Affairs Committee is focused on advancing and protecting the construction industry’s interests at the local and state levels of government, while working closely with the AGC of America to defend the industry at the national level. The Government Affairs Committee develops AGC’s Legislative Platform which serves as a guide for all of the Government Affairs team’s work and works closely with the CONPAC committee.

Young Constructors

The Young Constructors was established to fulfill the need to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the construction industry. The Young Constructors is a conduit for participants to network, exchange ideas about work and the industry, serve local communities, continue professional development, and develop leadership skills. This committee addresses the needs of young professionals in the industry and works on developing relations with student chapters and provides opportunities for participants to network on a local, statewide, and national basis with other YC participants. Workforce Development Committee

The Workforce Development Committee is a cross-section of the stakeholders in construction workforce development.  Two AGC HHU Chapter members, two AGC Building Chapter members, two AGC subcontractor members and two representatives from post-secondary schools in South Dakota make up this committee.  These eight members work in concert with AGC staff to develop and execute programs with the goal of developing a safe and well-trained construction workforce for South Dakota.

HR Alliance

Human resources issues such as unemployment insurance, workers’ compensation, health insurance, employer/employee rights, wages, etc. This committee works on topics that will affect the employee/employer relationship of a business. This group typically meets monthly with a guest speaker in-person and via Zoom. If you would like to join this committee, email Margaret@sdagc.org!

Safety Committee

The Safety & Health Committee brings together the top construction safety professionals in South Dakota to inform, recommend and develop AGC safety services.  The Safety & Health Committee is serviced by a safety education, consultation and recognition subcommittees.  In addition the MSHA Alliance brings together construction-related miners for the purpose of networking, education and advocacy.  All AGC members are welcome to participate in the Safety Committee or its subcommittees.

DBE Committee

The DBE Committee acts as the association’s monitor of disadvantaged business enterprise issues at the state level, and advises the Board of Directors on issues in this area.  This committee meets periodically with administrators or other entities to discuss AGC’s issues and concerns, and works with other construction associations on DBE matters.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is the association’s eyes for reviewing quarterly financials, developing a yearly budget, monitoring the audit process, and the review & management of all investments.

SDDOT Steering Committee

The Steering Committee is assembled to work cooperatively with the SDDOT on contract, specifications and procedural improvements.  The committee will gather members to rally around specific disciplines issues and coordinate joint meetings with the SDDOT.

The AGC technical task groups meet as needed on specific technical issues that affect the industry. The task groups are:

  • Structures
  • Grading
  • Specialty Items
