PIERRE, SD - Representative Steve Street, (D), Revillo, was presented with the Highway Champion Award from the Associated General Contractors, at their Annual Legislative Dinner held February 6th at the Ramkota in Pierre.
“For years, local government has only been able to fund part of their road and bridge construction. During the 2011 Legislative Session, Representative Street was instrumental in drafting legislation to increase much needed funding for local roads. For his commitment to making South Dakota’s infrastructure better, we honor Rep. Street with this award,” said Associated General Contractors Highway-Heavy-Utilities Chapter President Nathan Reede.
“Maintaining a strong infrastructure is the best form of economic development I know of,” said Representative Street.
Representative Steve Street is a life-long South Dakota resident who graduated from SDSU in 1972 with a degree in agronomy. Street served on a township board for 25 years. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2004, where he has served as minority caucus leader and on the agriculture and transportation committees.
The AGC of South Dakota, Highway-Heavy-Utilities Chapter, is a voluntary trade association of more than 250 contractors, suppliers and service firms who build the roads, bridges and water/wastewater infrastructure in South Dakota.
