The AGC awards three companies with a Build South Dakota Award annually which recognizes South Dakota’s best highway-heavy-utilities construction projects. Each winner receives a $500 check made out to the charity of their choice.

The Build South Dakota Award recognizes particular South Dakota highway-heavy-utilities construction projects completed in the past year. Projects demonstrate excellent management and client service, innovation in construction techniques or materials, community relations and/or sensitivity to the environment.
The 2016 winners are:
Mainline Contracting - for Outstanding Highway-Heavy-Utility Construction performed at North Middle School by Improving Storm Water Drainage, Concrete Work and Landscaping in Rapid City, SD.
D&G Concrete Construction, Inc., for Outstanding Highway-Heavy-Utility Construction Performed on the Structure Replacement of 12th Street & Grange Avenue in Sioux Falls, SD.
Knife River Midwest, LLC - for Outstanding Highway-Heavy-Utility Construction Performed on the Repair & Replacement of Interstate 90 in Jones & Lyman Counties, SD.
The Good Citizen Award is awarded in recognition of those people in our industry who, by their action and by their service, accomplish meritorious deeds. These will be singular achievements, which bring credit to the individual or their firm and thereby improve the image of the construction industry.
The 2016 winners are:
Bob Matzke - In Recognition of his Heroic Action and Quick Thinking in Saving the Lives of Four Individuals Who Were Stranded as their Boat Capsized on Lake Poinsett in Arlington, SD.
Rob Everist - In Recognition of his Vision, Leadership, and Sponsorship in Fulfilling the Dream of the George A. Fitzgerald American Legion Post 65 to build “Veteran’s Memorial Park” in Dell Rapids, SD
The Young Professional Award recognizes an individuals under the age of 35 who possesses extensive field experience & professionalism in their type of work, is actively involved in their community and the AGC, as well as demonstrates great leadership skills.
The 2016 winner is:
Derek Suhr, Quinn Construction, Rapid City, SD - In Recognition of the Time, Leadership and Commitment given to the Associated General Contractors of South Dakota, Inc. Highway-Heavy-Utilities Chapter in 2016.
